East Hampton, N.Y. /
July 2014
Opendomes is proud to announce cooperation with person that needs no introduction. Accomplished writer and worldwide television personality, publisher, broadcaster and merchandiser. Living proof that domesticity and entrepreneurial spirit do not contradict each other – the Martha Stewart.
We were asked to help in preparation of a unique house garden party in backyard of her house on Lily Pond Lane in affluent East Hampton, N.Y. Theme of the event: celebration of 1998 harvest of Dom Pérignon.
Guest list included 100 friends of Martha Stewart that happened to live nearby. Actors Matthew Broderick, Sarah Jessica Parker, Nathan Lane, Scarlett Johansson and Kelly Rutherford, radio broadcasters and TV personalities Howard Stern, Barbara Walters, Matt Lauer and Katie Couric – these are just a few guest from a long list of names that you may find familiar.
Gathering of so many successful people on one lawn calls for something special – and this is where Opendomes stepped in. We started with assembly of our premium flooring system, then we built Opendome 110 geodesic dome and covered the entire structure with triple-layer opaque membrane which blocks sunlight from penetrating trough surface of the dome. After installation of door system, vacuum pumps were used to line the interior with a projection liner, then we installed a sophisticated spherical projection system designed to immerse viewers in world of Dom Pérignon and take them for the journey through space and time.
After cocktail hour where guests socialized in meticulously maintained garden of Lily Pond Lane estate, Ms. Stewart said: “Come on, everyone into the dome”. When the doors closed and show started mouths of all guests opened. They could not believe their senses when they were suddenly transported to a place that did not resemble anything that they have ever seen. “It’s like being in a spaceship” said Dylan Lauren daughter of Ralph Lauren and owner famous Dylan’s Candy Bar. “We better get out of here before it takes off” – said well know venture capitalist Sylvester Miniter. Actress Susan Lucci said: “It reminded me of that thing at the Museum of Natural History. You know, the one Tom Hanks narrates”.
Filled with emotions guest were invited to dinner on porch of Martha Stewart’s house with menu designed specifically to accompany unique taste of Second Plénitude (P2) of Dom Pérignon.
